X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) Lab Preparation
1. Sample Information
- What type of sample are you submitting? (powder, solid, thin film, other)
- How much sample could you provide?
- Is the sample homogeneous or heterogeneous?
- Is the sample single-phase, multi-phase, or unknown?
- Is the sample crystalline, amorphous, or a mix?
- If a single crystal substrate, please indicate the structure and orientation.
2. Composition and Safety
- What is the known composition of your material? (list all components, if known)
- Does the material contain iron or other elements that require specific wavelengths?
- Is the material toxic, hazardous, or have any handling/storage concerns?
- Can destructive methods (e.g., grinding) to process your material
3. Measurement goals
- What is the purpose of the scan? (Qualitative phase ID, quantitative phase analysis, stress/strain, high resolution pattern, quick scan, etc.)
- Would you like full analysis/report, or just raw data?
- Do you have any preferred scan parameters or requirements (2θ range, step size, resolution, etc.)
4. Background References
- Please share 1-2 papers or prior studies about your material that include XRD? (if available)
